Ship Rock, Arizona - Sacred Navajo SiteFirst views

First views of Ship Rock, sacred place of the Navajo. We were mesmerized by its majesty and mystery.

Navajo people live nearby.

We tried to get as close as we could to it.

Fences and a great deal of land surround it.

As it was late in the day the light was changing constantly.

The outline was different from every angle.

Kenny and Ship Rock.

The light became so bright as the sun went down.

Like a ship on a sea of grass...

The weather was forboding...

...and the land so fascinating!

We left through Roof Butte/Lukachukai, the neighboring mountain pass.

From the higher elevation of the butte we looked down upon this scene!

Seemingly floating in the haze... Goodbye, Ship Rock!
